Snow Geese

Snow Goose/Chen caerulescens

These photos of the Snow Geese up by Burns, Oregon were taken by Karen Stenius over several years. It is an awesome sight to see thousands of these white birds, like clouds descending upon the area.

They are 25 to 38 inches. It is a mostly white goose with varying patches of black and brown, with black wing tips, pink bill and legs. Some birds are grayish with a white head. The female looks the same as the male, however the juveniles are overall dull gray with dark bills.

They migrate complete to New Mexico and California, southern states and Mexico. They are smaller then the Canadian Goose.
